PRESS RELEASE
A new industrial park, Oltenia Business Park, will be set up on a plot of land, with a total area of over 180 hectares, located in the commune of Coșoveni, being the largest economic platform in the south of Romania, created by the local public authorities.
The initiative aims at the economic development of Craiova and Dolj County by attracting investors who will be able to benefit from all the facilities to create jobs, said the president of the Dolj County Council, Cosmin Vasile.
"For us it is a special moment and I can say that it is the most important investment in terms of economic development infrastructure. We are starting a road at the end of which we will build the largest industrial park in southern Romania.
We are in a partnership with the Craiova City Hall. As you know, we also own two industrial parks, which we also built with the help of the town hall, and with the one of the mayor Lia Olguța Vasilescu, business platforms that have residents, they have created hundreds of jobs and on this model we also go to the present.
In terms of size, the new park is 180 hectares, by far the largest, and we will try to attract investors who will bring added value, both economically and from the point of view of job creation.
If we go according to the schedule, the residents will benefit from utilities brought to the factory gate, but also from all the support that the two authorities, Dolj County Council and Craiova City Hall, will be able to offer.
It is a partnership that means economic development for Dolj and for Craiova. The new park is located ten kilometers from the entrance to the city, which for investors and the workforce represents a more than attractive offer", said the president of the Dolj County Council, Cosmin Vasile.
The mayor of Craiova, Lia Olguța Vasilescu, stated, during a meeting that took place at the headquarters of the Administrative Palace, that almost 20 economic agents have already expressed their interest in the new business structure, and have submitted requests in this regard .
"It is a very important step that we have taken today. Finally, we have the 180 hectares of land needed to develop the third industrial park. The other two are full, and the High-Tech Industry Park is actually looking for workers, because although in Craiova the unemployment rate is below one percent, in the rest of the county it is higher.
The new park will be built in the Coșoveni commune and we will certainly expand public transport to it when the new economic platform becomes functional.
Until then, we are going to access European funds, so that we can be in a position to offer investors utilities brought to the factory gate, but also everything that is needed in an industrial park. We've lost a few opportunities in recent years because there were major companies asking us about large plots of land, and we didn't have them to make available.
Now we can recall them and get to where we all want: the lowest unemployment and amenities for the employees who will serve the park. Currently, we have 19 economic agents who have submitted applications to benefit from a place in this industrial park, and we are going to take all the steps, so that we develop it in the near future", declared the mayor of the Municipality of Craiova, Lia Olguța Vasilescu.
For his part, the director of the Pelendava Penitentiary, Chief Commissioner of the Penitentiary Police Florin Rădulescu, said: "I am glad that I was able to offer my support, especially since an opportunity is created in the future to be able to put to work the people whom we have them in custody. It is an important aspect for them as well, as it helps with their reintegration into society and possibly their future employment.”
